[RAS2] Diary Entry #16

Good news!

Today I put up the beta of what I've named 'Tower of the Ancients Redux'. It's the build of Tower of the Ancients running on the new technology. If you own Tower - you can get the updated versions features for free. If you haven't played tower before - perhaps now is a good time to try...

Also there is now a new build of Ultra Assault. There's a bunch of improvements under the skin - but the most obvious one is it now all works correctly on Windows 7 and Vista. You can download the new version of Ultra Assault here...

I'm going to look at fixing some Vista/Windows 7 issues with Master of the Skies/Red Ace Squadron/Star Monkey - and will put up new builds over the next little while.

In terms of the development of Tower of the Ancients Redux. It was a learning experience - that's for sure. There's some other tweaks and improvements that I think would be good to add. I'm going to have to have a think about some of the technology issues it has bought up. The main tech issue for Tower Redux - is its not getting as good performance as I'd like. So that's something I'll have to look into. Basically I'll need to reflect a bit on whats most important techwise to do next.

Now the majority of effort will turn to what I know most people are waiting for - RAS2!

All the best,

Jonathan

Great news! This is a pretty big step towards RAS 2. I'll test when I get back home to my windows pc. I'll be looking forwards to seeing more of this new technology in current games and future releases. Good work.
